The H-21, nicknamed flying banana in english and banane in French, was the first heavy transport helicopter use in great number during military operations. Developped from 1945, it served in multiple air forces between the 50s and the 60s, it served into the USAF and in the USN, in the ALAT (Light Aviation of the French Army) and in the AƩronavale (French Naval Air Force), in the Heeresflieger (German Army Air Force), in the Royal Canadian Air Force, in the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force and in the Swedish Air Force.
They did the Korean War and the Vietnam War with the US forces and the Algerian War with the French forces.
This one is probably a H-21C used by the AƩronavale, it's now exposed at the collection of the Ailes Anciennes de Toulouse, where it is restored and maintained.
