
The Sud Aviation SE210 Caravelle was the first French jet liner and the world's first twin reactors civilian aeroplane build in quantity and also the world's first aeroplane with the reactor on the tail and not in or fixed to the wings.
The first Caravelle began their service in July 1959 under the livery of Air France.
After a not very succesful career with only 282 exemplars built, a new project of four engined supersonic liner is in way of developement, the Super Caravelle, which finish, after the creation of AƩrospatiale which is the association of Sud Aviation and of Nord Aviation, with an aeroplane totaly different of the Caravelle and built in association with the British Aircraft Corporation, the Concorde was born.
The last Caravelle left the service of the Zairian airline Waltair in July 2005, exactly 10 years ago.
The one is a Caravelle 10B which had served for the transport of Jean-Bedel Bokassa, one of the former presidents of the Central African Republic, between 1975 and 1979 before to be bought by the airline Air Toulouse and served there until its retreat under the registration F-GHMU before to be exhibited at the Ailes Anciennes de Toulouse, it has the serial number 249.
