Gajebump's fire-kangaroo Bourdo meets the Olati while travelling trough beautiful old Nippon.
Olatias seems to have taken a liking to him, but little Latissun seems less thrilled with their new friend. (^_^)
I made this as a Kiriban for Gajebump over at Deviant-Art , she wanted a picture featuring the Olati and her own character.
I really wanted to try my hand some more at an Okami like art style and since I usually work with thin outlines it was a nice experience to use broad brush-like lines.

I've never seen something like this...and it looks great! Wow...the amount of detail you put into this is simply stunning...<3 You pulled through the Sumi-e style with little problems (though I bet this must've taken you quite a bit) About how long did it take you to make the whole thing o.o...and btw, I love the coloring on the Olati =3
Thanks a lot for your kind words! (^_^)
Hmmm... looking back I think it took me roughly 12 hours in total split over several days, including working out the idea, sketching, inking and a whole lot of experimenting to get the look just like I wanted it.
I redid several parts of it multiple times to experiment with different effects and brushes.
I learned a lot while making this, and that is always a good thing. (^_~)

Wow...that's quite a while on it, but the end result was simply perfect! Again...nothing like it and yet, even as it was something I wouldn't have mixed together because it didn't occur to me, it looks extremely beautiful <3 I imagine the redoing part must've been tedious but not as much as trying to piece it to how you had it in your head. I think it's great that you experimented with different things, the fruits of your labor really shine through o.o And learning is very important indeed, a friend of mine had say something that rings quite true I believes, that the moment you can't see a space for improvement and learning is the moment you drop your paints. ^^
Do you mind if I use it as a Wallpaper? =D

Your friend has the right idea (^_^)
Now that I have worked out the "how" I think future projects in this style should go a little quicker.
But generally I don't mind how long it takes, as long as long as it turns out right. (^_^)
As for wallpaper usage, go right ahead (^_^)
