colors can be used to make a character more cartoonish or more "serious". I did this with most of carmelita's colors because if you compare this picture and her original colors from the game, you'll notice she looks a lot darker and toned down (hair, fur, jacket, pants etc), whereas in the games she has much brighter colors (like sly) because the sly games arent meant to be serious or dark in tone. Basically colors can help you with the mood, style, and tone in your art.
