Every year, people are murdered simply for being born in the wrong shell... all too many times, these crimes go unpunished due to small-mind peoples. Those who do survive attacks often feel ashamed to report it to the authorities. That is no way to live.
This image was inspired by my countless yet wonderful kin... those of us born in the wrong shell and fight to be accepted no matter how we dress, look, or pronoun we use.

As I told a young woman yesterday, one who I see as my own daughter, I have to believe that this dream will come true because I can not comprehend living in a world so filled with hatred and uglyness. In the last 100 years, look at how much things have changed for everyone else, our day is coming. The less we are seen as freaks, the more there is successful trans, even if we can mentor just one person... we are changing the world. Last night, a young lady, a teenager, told me her story. I never spoke to this girl until after she seen this picture. She has endured so much hate but she is so... so strong. She and her beloved are trans, they have been beated up, had their lives threatened... and still these young individuals keep their heads up. She thanked me for making this picture, she was feeling alone in the world because no one else seemed to care. Maybe I am just a big softy but that touched my heart deeply. It showed me that even though I am just one person, I can help shape this world into one that is better. **squeezes your hand**
I'm with you all the way hun. It's good that your new friend found you, felt she could confide in you. The Trans seem to find so few that they can in this world. It seems that most often, the only people who don't react with disgust or disinterest, view trans as oddities of curiousity, or even worse in a way, as objects of sexual attention, no longer a person, but a thing one way or the other.
Stay strong, hun, and keep fighting. This world needs people like you, more than just a bunch of blustery words on the internet and false promises never meant to be kept. People like you are the renegades who will change tomorrow. I'm sure that new friend of yours can see it too. *smiles*
