It is kind of a good point. Nature doesn't have all the answers, so it's kind of weird when people insist that we just follow the natural progression of things. If we did that, more than half the time we'd end up dead a hell of a lot faster than we already do.

I'm of the mind that advances in medical science and chemistry are, in fact, the "natural progression" of things. The way viruses adapt to vaccines and the like.
