colored reference of Khepei, or just Khep since apparently there is a cult of Khepei in Pathfinder and that would be MIGHTY AWKWARD. Khep works. So how did a tengu get to Osirion?:
Khep's whole family has been through generations of slavery. Theories about the origins; originally from Tian Xia or from the Shackles, but never confirmed. There has been generations of escaping slavery to find a better life but the descendants always seem to be brought back into slavery but in a different land. The latest known city where her family has been slaves is Katapesh, trying to be sold to the highest bidder.
It was her grandfather with his hatchling son. A great dispute happened between the slave trader and a group of adventurers that resulted into an all out brawl in the middle of the streets. He took the opportunity to escape with his son and fled north. His son was freshly hatched and he couldn't be marked as a slave, but not so fortunate for the grandfather. Tired and no hope for survival while the slave traders hunt him down, he came across a traveling merchant with his family heading to Osirion. He begged and offered everything he had to the family to only take his son to safety. They were extremely hesitant due to his slave mark seared into his feathered body even with his argument that his son is not marked. The wife acknowledge the pain the tengu feels, he would sacrifice everything to let his child live on or to live a better life. With the merchant''s wife's plea they accepted the tengu son, not knowing whats happening and having vague memories of his still developing mind. So they left the grandfather to his fate as he confronts the slave hunters that has been chasing after him all this time. They would've taken the tengu back, but he would not survive the trek back; he is no longer worth anything. As the merchants travel far from the spot, far in the distance the tengu son sees the vague figure being slain, slaughtered, by the slave hunters.
It was very odd to have a tengu in Osirion. They raised him long enough until he can stand on his own and left him as they traveled to Thuvia and never returned. (they must've got eaten by a giant sand worm or some shit) He started living in the streets, learning how to survive and fight, until he joined a mercenary group. One day he was hired by researchers of Tian Xai to guard them while they observe and take samples of plant life in the desert and met another tengu, the lead researcher of the group. He fell for her, awed by her outlandish but exotic beauty. He has been by her side the whole time, protecting her, and eventually they were in love and bore a clutch of 3. In her great sorrow, she could not stay in Osirion and he could not follow her. She left him with one of the eggs for him to care while she took the two, promising them to inspire their children to explore and see the wonders of Golarian. He could never forget his love, and it pains him deeply. But her only memento, the child he left to him, is his greatest treasure.
He worked harder as a mercenary to earn enough money to give his child a good life. Despite not being able to get a home, he was able to provide food and warmth to both of them. His child was born, Khep, and his heart is filled with so much joy from seeing the most beautiful thing he has made. She is a big build for a female tengu, so she can be mistaken as male which doesn't bother her. Her father shown his pride to the mercenaries and they promised them a spot for her if she trains hard enough. Training in the streets as her father did; evading crowds in busy districts, fighting off rats and practicing her sword stance with a stick, and bring able to defend herself with harassers she was able to join the mercenary group at a young age. Now Khep works with her new family and most of the time her father. Though it's hard to tell the tengus part, she bleached the tips of her feathers so they know its Khep.
