I'll take the opportunity to talk a little more about them XD
Their more notorious trait is that they look like they're wearing a hood. They can take off the hood if they want, even if it's part of them it acts as a regular hood, they use it mostly for camouflage purposes or intimidating a prey.
They're a species that live in societies generally isolated/far away from other species, even when they're very sociable; this is because they're often hunted down as an "exotic" creature due to 3 reasons:
> The "eyes" of their hoods are actually "gems" and are considered to be very valuable, some of these are very rare and with special qualities that add value to the gem itself
> Their fur/feathers are considered as a high quality material, so it's very requested for the elaboration of clothes, accessories, etc; also due to the appearance of their hoods, it's often seen as trophies
> Some of them have very rare abilities, often catalogued as magical/spiritual abilities, so they are, sometimes, sold as slaves and forced to use their abilities for diverse purposes as crafting magical items, sorcery, etc
As mentioned before, they possess abilities catalogued as magical/spiritual. All of them have some general abilities, however, each breed possess an special type of abilities specific for said breed.
The gems on their hood act as an storage and catalyst of the energy collected by them, it also keeps their vital energy flowing through their bodies, so if these are removed they'll start to deteriorate progressively and become weaker by the pass of the time until they've finally die. This is one of the reasons why these are so valuable, as these energy can be used by any individual in possession of one of the gems, besides that, this energy contained inside the gem provides a singular brightness and beauty that make of these a invaluable object
