As an aside, you've really been doing quite well with the Tarkir-block aesthetic in the pieces you've been drawing so far!

XD I'm not sure if it's a more classical aesthetic in the case of the Ojutai, but, I've been happy how they've turned out design-wise too

Heh. I got started on the alpha set.

When Magic was a REALLY new thing, my local game store hosted a tourney. Everybody built mash-together decks of all their most powerful cards... 'Cept for me. I was the only person to show up with a 2-color deck. Red & green. Elves, fireballs, disintegrate.

Lots of folks marvelled that I left out powerful cards that didn't match the color theme.

But I won.

Next tourney, everybody was playing 2-color decks... 'Cept for me. Straight black. 60 cards, 22 sinkholes.

I won again.

Wowsers, I feel out of league here, any treasures from those days you kept lying around?

Do you ever keep a peek at the game nowadays, thoughts on how it's doing these days?

I got rid of most of my collection years ago. I don't have a lot of time to game, and most of that is devoted to RPG's. I only kept a handful of my most collectable cards, don't have any playdecks ready, and haven't kept up with the game.

Had a LOT of fun with it back in the day, though.

These days my spare rec time is devoted to developing my own RPG. I am an old-school, hard core technician nerd of game mechanics. I love tearing apart & analyzing game systems just for fun, and my local group keeps coming back for my campaigns. Hope I'll get a chance to publish. Probably will. The rulebook is pretty much done. I'm planning to spin off a character creation manual (which I'll probably make a free download) and eventually 3 campaign guides (probably also free downloads). Anyway... I've only got so much time & energy to go 'round, and that pretty much takes it.
