(Story by Koviell Sashermasock)
The last time I've seen fire in the sky it was during the attacks of the Grey Ones, many years ago, underground. This is an unnatural effect; I can be sure of this. Who can be the source of this? We've got to figure it out what's really happening…
"This vision… it's horror!" Says Draselth.
"I've never seen something like that before." Says Zolthan.
"I… did… My head… it hurt so much…" Says Draselth, before he falls on the floor.
"Zolthan! Do something!" Requests Nova.
Zolthan picks Draselth and puts him on a table. He inspects him.
"He's unconscious." Concludes Zolthan.
"Can you do something to help him up?"
"We just have to wait…" Says Zolthan.
Suddenly, we hear a huge sound, like an explosion and then the fire disappeared. Draselth wakes up.
"What happened?" Asks Draselth.
"You've fall unconscious for a few minutes." Says Zolthan.
"I'm glad that you're back."
"I'll check if the others are all right." Says Zolthan.
"We should do the same."
"Agreed." Says Draselth
"Be safe, all of you." Says Nova.
We get out of the inn. Zolthan gets on his own way. We go in another one. We stop in front of a forge. There is a grey elf there, working on a blade. He must be the blacksmith. As we enter his forge, he gives us a mean look.
"What do you want from me? Whelps" Asks the Blacksmith.
"We wanted to know if you were okay. You see, there was fire in the sky and…"
"No I'm not okay. You whelps are bothering me; Leave me alone!" Spits the Blacksmith.
"Okay okay, we're going. Geez. People these days. You could at least…"
Suddenly the Blacksmith started coughing and falls on the floor, his mouth is full of blood. Draselth takes his pulse; the Blacksmith is dead.
"There is nothing I can do for him. I think he is affected by the same illness than the Gnome before."
"This is very strange."
"We should get back to Zolthan and see if he have found something."
"Let's move on."
When we get out, we can hear the sounds of a battle. We rush to the source only to see Zolthan fighting a wolf of an unnatural size and appearance. That creature may look like a giant wolf, but many patches of fur are missing. There are holes that let us see internal organ. Its eyes are tainted by a fiendish nature. Nearby the creature, there is a elven lady shouting something in a dark and scary language.
Zolthan tries as much as he can to parry and counters each bites the creatures tries to place against him. Sadly, his luck turned before we were able to do something. A magical bolt of energy strikes him and he falls to the ground, to be bitten by the vicious jaws of the creature.
"Zolthan!"
The Creature and the Elf lady look at the two kobolds. The Elf points them and she says something in her dark language. The wolf creature charges at us. The two kobolds take out their weapons; a sabre in one hand and the longknife in the other for Arkum. Draselth takes his longsword and points it at the creature while he whispers something.
"I'll take the monster. Arkum, go for the Elf."
"Got it."
Arkum rolls out of the reach of the wolf creature to lunge at the Elf, who gracefully dodges his sabre slash before she hop a few feet away. It was like if she was ported by the air.
Back at Draselth. The wolf creature tries to bite him up. He dodges the bite and punches the monster in the jaw before striking it with his blade; the hit was so effective that the wolf is staggering.
The Elf steps back and start evoking something; the sky is getting darker as she speaks and the lightning strikes right at Arkum, who tries to dodge the bolt, but he is still hit and shocked.
The wolf creature tries to maul the kobold fighting him. Draselth rolled to the side to avoid the blow, but he is still clawed. He gets up on the side of the creature. "You shall not pass my judgment!" His sword glows with silvery light and he slices a part of the jaw of the creature, which falls on the ground and turn to dust.
Arkum raises his blades and charges at the elf, who gracefully avoid his sabre again. She raises her palm and whispers something. This time, Arkum got the opportunity he was waiting for and stab her in the guts with his longknife. But something is very, very odd; the Elf isn't bleeding at all. In fact, the blade of his weapons isn't covered in blood or anything. Arkum rolls on the side to avoid getting hit by lightning again; he is still stuck, but less directly.
The wolf creature, ignoring his missing limb, tries to bite the kobold in front of him. The fangs of the creature were glowing by an unholy aura. The between the fangs of the monster and Draselth pushed the kobold away; a magical veil protected him.
Draselth raised his sword in front of the wolf creature. "I call upon the powers of the outer world; the one that shall bring the Light over the wicked. Lumen Sanctum, banish this creature of the realm of the livings!" His sword covers in shining silvery light and the radiance turns the wolf creature partially grey. Draselth then take his weapon with both hands to deliver a finishing blow to the monster, turning it into dust as it falls on the ground. "Be gone, fiend!"
Arkum places his blades on his sides and execute his Fullmoon Dance. Step, turn, slash, step, turn, slash, step, turn, slash, step, turn, slash. He makes this mortal dance around the Elf while placing vicious blade slashes. Triple hit! Yet again, the Elf doesn't bleed.
The Elf let out a howl that could come from a creature from another world and trees are spontaneously growing around her, completely covering her. After a few seconds, the trees rot and fall down. The Elf is no longer there!
"Arkum! Are you okay?"
"I'm tired and I got struck by lightning, twice. It hurts. Were you hurt by the wolf monster?"
"Not much. This outworldy creature couldn't stand a chance against the Holy Light. Now, let me patch you up." Draselth places his hand over Arkum's head.
[To you I send my call. You, the One in the Outerworld. Lumen Sanctum, the Ancient of the Light, grant me the light to cure his pleas."]
A faint silvery light covers Arkum, then it fades.
"Thanks Draselth, I should be good now. What about Zolthan?"
"He's there."
We look at the lifeless body of Zolthan.
"He died trying to protect his people."
"Is there something you could do for him?"
"I'm afraid I can't. The best would be to bury him as soon as possible. We should…"
"Arkum! Draselth! We got a very, very big problem here."
Behind us we can see Nova, with a bloody axe in hand.
"What happened? And why this weapon? Why is it bloodied?"
