Unsurmountable challenges and dead ends: Part 4
I haven’t been a very prolific composer in the past few years, or at least that’s what it seems like considering I’ve only submitted a handful of tunes. The reality is that I compose quite a bit, but it seems like most of these end in a endless loop of me not having idea what to do with them, It’s a really unfortunate fate for most of the songs I start composing, I simply cannot keep myself to continue these because I have no idea where to take them next.
Some are really simple ideas, some are almost finished pieces but in the end they all feel like dead-ends to me.
Anyway, I decided that as a way to move on (but not necessarily give up on most of these) I would submit the totality of my unfinished work… yes, all of them, no matter how big or small the files are.I found out there’s quite a bit of them, 54 in total! Some are shorter than 30 seconds while some break the 2 minute mark, some are REALLY sketchy and rough while some are somewhat polished and overworked.
I’ll also have to split the upload in two four SEVERAL PARTS (because FA’s file size limits are gheeey) , because the files are huuuuge..
I’ll provide a bit of commentary for every WIP down below, too: I’ll use the file’s name for ever piece, and when there’s two different songs in one file, I’ll separate them by patterns (Folks who use FL Studio will understand).
ANYWAY HERE GOES PART 4 OUT OF 5 OR 6 I DON’T EVEN KNOW:
00:00 - 01:03 ~ Lusian.flp
Another Andalusian cadence… I should stop using these sooo often.
01:07 - 02:46 ~ Met.flp
I often try to deny my music was made while I was thinking about videogame music… but there’s just no denying it with this one. I just can’t get over how messy the drums are, but otherwise I quite love this piece.
02:48 - 03:08 ~ Orch3.flp
Sharp ears might recognize this from somewhere else <o<
03:10 - 03:51 ~ .Orchsf2.flp
I’m in desperate need of convincing orchestral sounds… or an orchestra.
03:53 - 05:56 ~ Orchmet.flp
03:53 - 04:09 ~ Pattern 1: A really short idea, not sure where to go with it!
04:12 - 05:56 ~ Pattern 2: A simplified, rearranged version of a very old piece.
06:00 - 07:46 ~ Orchmet.flp
06:00 - 06:32 ~ Pattern 1: I just love starting with something quiet and calm and then progressively make a huge mess out of it.
06:35 - 07:46 ~ Pattern 2:Gotta hate it when I run out of ideas right in the climax of the song.
07:50 - 08:09 ~ plep plup.flp
Another idea too unremarkable to work on, but just barely too interesting to let die.
08:11 - 08:40 ~ plpzx.flp
I feel like smaller pieces like this are the building blocks for even greater things.
08:42 - 09:14 ~ Proo.flp
I was just trying out this new Soundfont bank I downloaded… it’s not really that great, as you can see.
09:16 - 10:21 ~ Rab.flp
Oh man, I had so much background for this… a small poem/story that I wanted to adapt into lyrics just for this. It’s been so long since then I don’t remember anything about the actual story behind this, nor do I remember where I wrote it down. But the music itself is enough of a legacy for that idea, I think!
