Oni. Japanese folklore. They typically come in red and blue.
For a long time they've been considered very nasty creatures but more recently they've started to be thought of in a more protective role. Scaring away evil spirits and such.
Which in Clara's context is extremely cute tbh
I think specifically the first piece you did with her is the most reminiscent of it.

Ah yeah! The old one looked a whole lot like them, but she still sort of has a lot of the same features. That's cool, I was aware of their existence but didn't know what their names were. It wasn't even intentional in the original, but it's cool that it worked out that way!
