A small clip (Chapter 9) from the NaNoWriMo novel I'm writing this year, introducing the central event upon which the plot is based.
Now if only I had the confidence to start the novel with this chapter rather than simple dreck, maybe I wouldn't be 5,000 words behind schedule. I've still got 25,000 to go and 15 days to do it.

I like it. It's well-written and interesting, and I love the way the transformation goes completely unnoticed for so long. I've read very few stories that do anything like that, much less this well.
