Together with 'Fina the Aviacean' and 'Aussie the Pyroopial', Dyna is another of the main monster characters in my forthcoming comic project. I was hoping to have the comic finished this year but that may have been an overly ambitious goal. I suppose I've generally been held up by needing to finalise/fine tune the character designs for this project and at the same time I'm actually working on character designs for other projects completely unrelated to this one.
For the moment at least I think it feels right to put up Dyna's design sheets - if nothing else doing so gives me free reign to upload any finished art of her at a later date.
Looking at Dyna here I can see a lot of the characters/design influences that contributed to her design. Most namely: the Pokemon Ampharos and Flygon, Mega Man, Blast Hornet (from the Mega Man X series) and Cyborg (from Teen Titans GO!). Even recognising these design contributions it's also clear to see that Dyna is a fully realised original character able to stand apart from these influences.
I suppose you could say that the Pokemon 'Beedrill' played a part in Dyna's design but truthfully Blast Hornet was more of an influence - especially with Dyna's considerably cumbersome tail-end. There may very well be a lot of rear-end related humour in Dyna's future.
Though Dyna's elemental attribute is electricity, she's actually more of an airhead than Fina - though truthfully it may be that she has as naive/innocent an outlook on the world that can be expected of any young artificial intelligence.
However, it's important to note that Dyna is not an artificial construct - she was actually born 'naturally' (for her species) - It's just that I'm trying to come to a resolution of how biomechanical beings would evolve/reproduce/be born in a world that also hosts fully organic beings, though it's not really such a strange proposal when you consider how different insects are to mammals.
Questions like these will probably (eventually) end up being explored/explained in the comic pages - albeit in a light-hearted, humorous way.
