At least you guys can still use hand signals for red zone. We have to say everything on the radio, because there's not already enough traffic and noise on there! x3
Awesome detail, right down to the green flag and Prime Mfg embossing on the mirror haha! Your diligence and attention to detail never ceases to amaze me, RJ.
Signal overlaps.. I have a nice horror story regarding those on the BN's Oregon Trunk when I was working that a few years ago..

Thanks! And yeah from what I remember the hoses came apart (just the glad hands) at a farmers crossing. I believe it was two cushion drawbar lumber cars or something that allowed the hoses to hang lower than they should be. But who the hell knows I mean I was in power the whole time so idk.
Anyway the signal overlap sign is something we have out here in ABS territory. Which is just Automatic Block Signals where the signals are not your authority but rather tell you the condition of the track ahead. You must have a track warrant to go anywhere. I've been told that other railroads have different names for this so I find it easier to just explain it all.
Anyway, the signal overlap sign is about 200 feet before the signal/switch where you have to shunt the track with the unit or whatever in order to press a button on the signal mass which is what you do to line yourself into a siding/get back into the main. Hope that helps!

Well I’m not too sure about why all that was, unless you’re MOW or something. For us, the only ones that are able to get a toot on the horn are the TY&E crew only - that of which is the Conductor and/or Brakeman.
Otherwise when I work say a Work Train, Laying rail or dumping rock, everyone else (the MOW or Herzog etc) must do it by radio. I just assumed it was their rules - though it does cause for less confusion I believe doing that way.
Of such, the conductor I’m working with (and brakeman) will usually say it over the radio as well. This way everyone is on the same page. If that makes sense?
