Was Nightmare Moon a truly separate individual from Luna? o.O The Tantabus is certainly but I think Nightmare Moon is just Luna driven to an emotional extreme, like if you've ever gotten so angry that you couldn't pull back from it in time before you did something stupid. ^^;
VERY adorable picture, love the blush on the Tantabus. Just want to squish its little semi-corporeal self like jelly. <3 ^^

Well I think it was said that canonically that Luna was possessed by a nightmarish parasite changing her slowly into Nightmare Moon til the whole Eternal Night incident. Then while on the moon she founded the Nightmare Shadows know otherwise as the peaceful Nyx dream creatures by corrupting them. Tantabus was just a nightmare parasite created by Luna to punish herself for her actions as Nightmare Moon, or at least what her actions could've caused had she not been stopped when she was. The Nightmare that possessed Rarity could've been a byproduct of the original parasite as I think someone said Luna stated she created that one through her jealousy, which means it happened while she was already possessed at the time.
I have read the comics. *nods* But I keep hearing back and forth on whether or not they are canon. o.o Most bothersome. ^^; If there is some direct statement from the makers on if the comics 'matter' or not I would very much appreciate a link. :D
Thanks though for the reminder. ^^ Since without that portion from the comics the question on Nightmare Moons individuality would still be up in the air. o.O

Well I think creators stated it's semi-canon. Canon unless the show itself otherwise conflicts with a particular issue like the Daring Do books author being Daring Do herself in the show but supposedly Twilight Velvet in the comics. Could be she's a coauthor or an editor so that'd work.
That's true.
