Saw a butcher today and thought, wow, that man is a bull,
so I drew it :)
Trying to grasp soft shading, it's fucking insane X_x
I have no idea how to do it.

digital shading... one way to do is to find the color you like the most, make a swatch of it so you can reference it frequently, then add white to highlight, or black to shade. and minute amounts of colors on either side of the main swatch for color highlights, since when shading or highlighting often illuminates colors previously not seen in any given light level.
nice bull by the way, was kinda hoping to hang on a hook for him myself.

ah, well.... the biggest thing is to know your subject, and to pick your light source.
Is the light coming from above? below? the left? right? etc...
if the light comes from the top, shadows show up on the underside of any protuberance.
if the light is from the left, shadows go on the right.
etc.
some shadows are sharp, others fade, that all depends on the stark strength of the light source, and the deffinition of the edge that casts the shadow. fur would be soft, but claw and teeth are sharp edged shadows. thats about the best i can suggest on this for now :">
