*giggles* Tail number two, this one for
He seemed quite happy with it- he hasn't let me know, yet, how it's wearing. :) He wore it briefly at the Prancing Skiltaire, but he didn't have a belt with him, so he had to pin it on with a couple of safety-pins. Not the best of attachment devices, in my opinion. It sits better on a belt, as you can see.
I just couldn't find any green vinyl in a scaled pattern, so I painted this on some white I had leftover from making my tail. Those cool spikes and the belly (hard to see in the pix, I think- dang) were made of this cool iridescent grey scaly vinyl and it shone a blue-ish purple. Very neat stuff. Some of it's going into
's tail...

*cheers for arthropods anyway, just because they're cool* Yup- trying to finish a certain plushie, so I can post pix of it before I have to hed to LAX to fly back to Winnipeg. Bleah- it's REAL winter, there- snow and everything... My joints will hate it.
Thanks for liking my tail! I'm happier with the pattern, though I can see that it still needs a bit of tweaking.

I actually like fresh snow- it's beautiful, fun to play in and it smells wonderful... It's the cold I have trouble with- it's a major trigger for my asthma and my joints give me the gears when it's chilly and humid out... Hard to chuck a nice wet, snowball when yer knees are forcing you to a hobble on a cane.
When I was a kid, I didn't give a fig for the cold and I'd stay out beyond the point of safety- came close to frost-bite more times than I can count. Actually got frost-bite once or twice (tips of my ears and my cheeks- I blotch oddly in the chill, now)- I just love being outside.
I don't remember many snow-days at home- we only got those after a big blizzard when there was either too much snow for the buses to travel through, or it was blowing to the point of white-wall. Can't see through that. A "snow-day" in Winnipeg is "snowed-in" everywhere else! We only call for a snow-day when it takes us a couple of hours to dig out our cars... We laugh uproarously when wimpy Toronto whines about a few measely inches and calls a snow-day on it, while we're happily wading through three-foot drifts on the way to school- make the best snow-forts, those...
Nope, it's just my health is broken, nowadays, and the cold seriously fucks me up. I hate living on pain-killers some days...

Thanks, hon! I love those crazy sox, too- they have toes! Anything with rainbows gets my "ooh shiny!" attention. Heh.
liked the paint-job, too- I sealed it with an acrylic gloss varnish, so it's flexible and hopefully won't rub off. He can clean it, too: a wipe with a damp cloth should take care of anything he gets on it. It's water-resistant, but I don't reccommend chucking it into the laundry- the paint wouldn't survive that treatment...

*giggles* Well, if a furson can't keep their suit clean, they soon won't have anyone to snuggle and yiff with... The SMELL... toe-socks do feel a bit odd... But rainbows! And some of the colours have metallic threads in them, so there's even more shiny quotient in 'em.. Rawr!
I like the sox, too. Heh. I know I'm gonna wear them till they're rags... I'm having fun with the tails... Working on Maliksr's plush right now (almost finished!), then I'm gonna move on to a couple of randoms- tails for the fun of it and maybe a fursuit head- I'm leaning toward doing a Griffin head...
Hmmm, I don't think so- it might be an idea, so I can do the scales right... do you mean that neato silver from the D&D manuals? Wizards didn't create that- that was TSR- they got bought out by W0tC, though... Grrr...
I'm happy with how the colour came out- I wanted a slightly metallic look for it.

Murrr... Thassa pretty dragon... Yeah, I think you did show me that fellow- I can do belly plates similar to the ones on the pic. That, and the stand-up frill, won't be too hard. I found this cool silvery vinyl that has an iridescent blue finish to it. Looks so awesome. I should be able to make it this week. I'll ship it when I get back to LA.
Yeah, it looks so much much nicer than the one I made for me and Kani- gonna have to re-do those. They were prototypes, anyway- after I made them, I knew the pattern needed some serious overhaul. I believe I've fixed the major problems, now it's just a bit of fine-tuning to make the taper more smooth. I like how the spikes came out, too- they're pretty cool.
*giggles* We can be outcasts together! Wait. Better- let's make our own Tribe! Ha! Now WE'RE the cool ones and all the bullies are the losers... No, wait... That's sinking to their level... Naah, I'd rather be the outcast- be the cool, scruffy underdog who everyone loves by the end of the film... Yah...
Hey, if you're looking for a scale-like pattern, I got this trick from OCC or WCC, one of those custom bike shows. Start with a dark colour, then put fishnet stockings over the piece (tightly) and paint your bright colour over that. I don't know how it would work on fabric, but on the fuel tank, it looked awesome. I think it was for the Eragon bike.....
That probably would work quite well, actually. The fabric had a scale-pattern embossed on it already, so I didn't need to do the scales themselves. But finding a good green scaly was danged near impossible, so I just painted some white scaled vinyl I had. I liked the texture of the stuff- it was pretty fun.
Did you get to see Dranslin wearing it? He didn't wear it for long, though- maybe the pins didn't stay closed or something. I hope he'll wear it to the next meet- be cool to see it on him. It's nice and soft, too- all plush and squeezable.
Kung Fu Panda is kinda hard to pull one's eyes away from... I think I made my starting rep with the tail and my room-killing "Care Bear Stare" comment during the credits... I don't get to break down an entire room into laughter very often- that was too cool.

I wanted a shape that hung realistically... I've seen some pretty dull tails with little or no shaping to them and people were buying them! Bah. I want to make some good, quality stuff. A few glitches to work out here and there as I'm still developing my patterns, but soon, I'll have workable, repeatable tail-patterns. And almost nobody does dragon tails, I've noticed.
Just more for me to do! Rawr.
