LOL! I have tried "Hardtack," and I wasn't thrilled with the flavor or texture. (I found out later if one cooks it with the morning bacon, it gets a bit softer when it soaks up the "Drippings." Today's MREs or stuff in the US Navy survival canisters is "Haute Cusine" by comparison.
