The Beginning of the End and A new Beginning
Thursday Prompt for Portigress (Coming Of Age)
I hope that you all enjoy this short story I wrote. Needless to say that I will be returning to this story in the future to flesh it out and to take it further than where it went. I ask that for those of you who do read this, please let me know what mistakes I made and where I might be able to improve on teh work.
I know that there are a few typos and mistakes, Just to let you guys know, it took three weeks to get this on paper before it drove me mad.

On another note, I need help naming the species in the story.
Basic description: The apecies is mammalian, who give birth to cubs. The cubs live for about 10 to 15 years before they dissapear for anywhere from 2 to 6 years sometimes longer, in order to acheive adulthood. The dissapearances have been assiociated as the gods testing the cubs to see if they are fit to assumce the mantle of adulthood due that about 50% of the cubs do return, however, in ways that are hard to explain today. When the cubs return from thier trials, they no longer have the form they had upon thier dissapearance. Their bodies undergo a complete species change, down to the genetic level. Basically, this species is somewhat like a butterfly, There is one form in childhood, and upon attaining adulthood, they have a new and different form altogether.

Well as for the trials, humans are one of many species that are used for teh cubs trials.
But I am having fun with the species I created, just haven't come up with a name for them yet. (And I am still working on a better biography of the species, and hope to get a couple of pics of them, cubs and adults.)

Interesting. The themes and concepts really caught my imagination. The metamorphoses these creatures of yours undergo is a bit different what I expected after reading the commentary, so I was positively surprised. The story is rather spiritual, even a bit eerie. Very entertaining and intriguing little story, I enjoyed reading this.
