Wearing the wingsuit today, or this would be a gnarly spot. The guys who got out just in front of me maybe should have asked the pilot to do a 180. I flew pretty much all the way back to the airport before I had to deploy my parachute.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I keep doing it. Looking out the open door of a plane and feeling no fear is amazing. My next favorite thing to flying the wingsuit is doing a high pull right out the door at 13,000 feet and taking a long ride down. My best time on one of those is a hair over 16 minutes, and it's that view all the way down.
I am a wee bit surprised I got out on my first one. I don't have the video, but I saw it, and I saw the look on my face. Total deer in headlights kinda thing going on. It was totally worth it. Plus, it was a huge adrenaline rush.

Well two miles is a lot less scary than 20 or 200 feet. The view at 2 miles is just too abstract for that fear of heights to kick in. It's getting to the point where I'm starting to think BASE might be a thing I want to do, and I'm a bit curious how I'd handle a cliff face or a 1000 foot antenna versus being in a plane. To a degree I can deal with some stuff that I used to find intimidating a lot better now -- driving up on trail ridge road in the "no guard rails" section, for example. Or standing near the edge of any of the cliffs up in Estes Park. I used to be afraid I might somehow fall over, but since I started skydiving, I realize that if I could keep my balance in a 3 foot section of my living room floor, a 3 foot path next to a sheer dropoff is no different.
When I first started skydiving, I had a dream one day that I had to make a jump from a 200 foot platform to some rigging on a hot air balloon a few feet away. I thought to myself "Well I'd have no problem making this jump on the ground, so I won't here either!" and then I went for it. That's the change in thinking getting into this sport brought about in me. Of course, if I wasn't a complete hypocrite, I should in theory be OK with the idea of climbing out of the door of the plane and then back inside without a parachute on. After all, I'd have no problem at all doing that with my parachute on and it should be no different, right? If I wanted to test this, I'd have to travel out of the USA, as FAA regulations would forbid it. I'm in no hurry to do that, but honestly, I think I'd be nervous about it, but I also think I could do it. Going to the camera step, on the other hand... (I haven't even done that with a parachute on!)
Of course, if you don't want to jump out of a plane but still want to try flying, you could always hit the wind tunnel! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MS6oeF2BS9s It's a lot of fun in its own right and you can fly as long as you want to. Assuming you have a large enough briefcase of cash anyway!
Taking a ride in a hot air balloon is also very nice and not scary at all. I went up with someone who was terrified of flying one time, and they had no problem at all with the balloon ride. I'd do it from time to time even if I wasn't going to jump out halfway through!
