Had the chance to be a zookeeper for 2.5 hours at the Thompson Park Zoo in Watertown, NY.
This tiny 16 year old beast was hard to wake up. The keeper had to bang on his wooden den-box and boy, did he ever snarl. He looks large due to the long hair, but actually, he's only a 25 pound lightweight. Though small, he's quite tough, having killed a previous enclosure mate. Of all the animals at the zoo, animals including wolves, bears and cougars, he alone makes the keepers the most nervous.
He spent maybe 20 minutes pacing his enclosure and then disappeared into the bushes, where he stayed until we left.
