Reference of the moth dragons, to keep them consistent.
Lepid dragon
Moths are the order Lepidoptera
Lepid means pleasant (Which a lot would probably argue moths are not)
Feline bodies, but all sex characteristics are based on the moth species. If you were making a lion/lime hawk moth male, he could have a mane because the moth species has sexual dimorphism.
My lion/ermine moth at the bottom is androgynous because the species sexes look the same.
Dragons based off moths species that drink nectar have really long tongues. Dragon based off of moths that do not eat do not have this adaptation.
Size can be based on the moth or the feline body type. I personally think the moth sized are cuter and more faerie like.
Spikes are limited to the arms and face.
Cubs or caterpillars vary from cute to frightening. Lepid dragons do not have a cocoon/pupa stage. Instead they metamorphosis similar to a frog, where parts are absorbed and others sprout/grow. Because of this, the dragons will never be smaller than their caterpillar stage.
A group of dragons is called an eclipse.
Dragons, when moth size, are mischievous little critters with feline behavior. They hunt insects, small animals and drink nectar, if based on a moth that drinks nectar. If you makes friends with them, they are great pest control for your home or garden. If you make enemies, you may fine holes in your favorite clothing. Very faerie like.
Shifting between moth size and cat size is perfectly fine.
Anthros are welcome.
Like regular dragons, they can be long lived. However, do to their small size usually not many live to adulthood without assistance. Even adults can die to what larger species would call inconveniences; having a book fall on you, getting stuck in a door, etc.
At the top;
Snow leopard/tiger moth
house cat/ rosy maple moth
Lynx/Lunar moth
Lion/Ermine moth

They are both in the same order, so technically you can use a butterfly. I am not going to stop anyone from using a butterfly, but I encourage the usage of moths.
I would love to see your dragon when you are done. I even have examples of caterpillar forms in new artwork.
