Made up carriers for the extra-long party straws we fursuiters often use to get hydration without removal of the headpiece. Straws need to be handy but free of dirt and protected from possible damage. I was able to make these up with 3/4" PVC Schedule 40 drinking water pipe and caps. Then painted to personal specifications. Some of the parts may be had at your local Habitat For Humanity ReStore for a dollar or two. The pipe may be easily cut with a small saw, like that on some Swiss Army knives.
Once cut to size, rinse pipe out with tap water and air dry. If the inside looks dusty, wipe out with a disinfectant wipe wrapped around a dowel rod. Then rinse with tap water.
The one styled like a walking cane has a twist-off plastic cap. The baton (top) is just long enough to contain the straws and the end caps are friction fitted and may be hard to remove with paw gloves on. I marked the cap easiest to remove with an "X" to let my spotter know which end to pop off.
I bought the straws at Big Lots a few years ago--$3 for a 100/pk--but can't seem to locate any now. The neon colors make them easy to locate and guide into the mouth of your costume headpiece. If one proved to be defective, just discard (in proper receptacle) and select another.
