The only thing that really keeps me going from day to day is the believe that one day there will be a Star Trek reboot where Kirk is just an unstoppable pansexual who'll sleep with men, women, talking space dolphins, aliens with fifty dicks, sentient plants, anything he can get his grubby paws on.

I am all for bringing back the nostalgia of lion-izing all the things (I dipped my toe in that fandom once, but sadly Dumb Reasons kept me from going in further :( ), so even though I[m not much of a ST fan, I dig these.

I'm actually not a fan of the new movies. Like.... they're OK I guess? My weird fandom splurges are usually on media that's not my favorite. I feel comfortable mocking it :P The things I like most I feel no need to draw fanart for because they are so perfect on their own.

Feel you there on all ends. I love the heck out of Pokemon, for example, to the point I had to make a separate account just to house it all (@ceegee in case you ask), but as much as I love the games and all, it isn't my fave thing of all time and the ones that are I find almost intimidating to draw any kind of fanart for because I fear not doing it justice :(
As for the Dumb Reason? I warn you now, it's pretty dumb in the grand scheme of things, but since you asked...
Back when I was a teenager, I was just getting to know this thing called the "internet" and at one point was intrigued by the idea of MUCKS/MUSH/etc based roleplay. I was recently bailing on a Beast Wars themed one I was in for a while (and was kicked out of for being stupid. but that's another story) and was looking for a new watering hole to quench my RP thirst from, so to speak.
So I hit the TLK MUCK, as I saw the art and I figured getting into the fandom wouldn't be so bad (And hey, as a Sonic fan, it's not like 2edgy OCs were a new thing to me). Wanting to meet new people and RP a bit, I made this gal (Warning for ancient artwork): http://www.furaffinity.net/view/730399/
Comments in the pic explains the story a bit, but long story short, I was never able to find anyone to play with either because the RP areas were empty or I was too scared to socialize with anyone in the OOC rooms as they all seemed busy or inactive, Because of that, I never had the means to flesh her out or really meet anyone who was deep into the fandom.
I don't blame the fandom for this, though, especially since I do still enjoy drawing TLK themed art from time to time. I guess I was too impatient/shy to make friends there and the lack of people to talk to at the time didn't help :(
