Uploading some of the original sketches of the Idle Tentacles page I've finished up until now.
I remember crushing my rib cage drawing this one, if only because I was at someone else's house (who didn't have a lot of furniture at the time) and I'd kinda resorted back to my old ways of lying stomach-down on the ground as I draw, comic page resting on a clipboard.
At the time I had NO idea what I wanted to do for the first panel. I asked Zach what he thought and, in saying that I sought to organize it kind of like the semi-realistic Spaceman Spiff segments of the Calvin and Hobbes comics, he suggested I just make it a detailed close-up shot of Herbert's eye. I liked the idea and thus, tada!
Don't know why I didn't detail the last panel as much. Maybe because, in having done the last few pages in a more realistic style, I couldn't switch back to the cartoon bit as quickly? Or maybe I just got lazy/bored. That's a reasonable assumption.
