This song has been sitting inside my harddisk for a while... I guess it's time for the world to be able to hear it, so I made some few touch-ups to the song and recorded my own voice (using my parents' karaoke mic, for the best possible quality) to go with it.
The truth is that I want to write goa trance and psychedelic trance music, too. (You know, the kind of trance music that's more common in Israel.) However, ModPlug Tracker is just too limited to allow such kinds of music to be written. x_x Which is why, all these while, I've been limiting myself to writing only "club trance" music. Recently, though, I've made an online order for FL Studio on the Internet, which I hope would allow me to be able to write goa and psytrance music properly.
In my opinion, this song is kinda so-so. It's not meant to be serious or something; it's just something I thought of out of random a year ago. I hope that, as soon as I get my hands on FL Studio, I can finally unleash my music potential to write something even better than this.

Thanks. =) Yeah, I know the beat is probably kinda too simple. ^_^;; I would've wanted to add more special effects, but I was unable to. x_x Goa trance music loves using so many extreme sound effects that can only be possible with synthesizers. That's why I've been hoping to install FL Studio soon.
And thanks for the fav. =)

I love that way it comes on. It's kind of trippy and at the same time, the only thing I could think of when it came on was like..coming up out of water. Call it a me thing (And since when is anything that I happen to come up with really 'normal?' c.x)
Yes, you are right though. It does come into beat as "club trance." Which is bad as I was listening to it in a library. (Look, I know I know. But they have free computer access. o`.x )
Still, I happen to have found it rather enjoyable.
The only hard thing about it is commenting on it.
As I have to pause at certain parts and I can't just say which part I like as it's.. well.. a whole song. c.x;

Thanks. =) Nowadays, though, I use FL Studio to write my songs. I'm not really that happy with this song... ^_^;; However, listening to my old MPT-produced songs makes me feel proud: It also shows how much years of experience with ModPlug Tracker allowed me to get over the limitations of MPT, while waiting for the day when I finally bought a better music program to further expand my musical abilities.
Still trance. Tempo needs to be faster, the lead harder, and flanger added as effect to the bass. Try saw toothed bassed waveformed hard leads over the polymorph lead to create a more suddle feel and perhaps you can push this song more into the goa feel. Though already this piece is on the right tracks it is more darkformed phy than goa.
Read my other posts and comments about genres. :P Trust me its hard to get other genres down when your so accustomed to a certain type. -.- I have the same issues thus why myself I stick to Trance and House.

I always thought that goa trance is also trance. =/ Oh well, rather than to argue about it, I'd just say that everyone classifies genres differently, so there is no right and wrong. (But still, arguments abound, anyway, because some people insist that they're right and the other person is wrong.) A lot of people classify goa trance and psytrance as just another subgenre of trance.
I'm aware that goa trance is usually faster. Anyway, I deliberately mismatched sounds from one genre and use them in the other. (For example, the kickdrum is from melodic trance.) I admit, I always wanted to write melodic trance music that uses more goa-ish main lead, giving the impression that the melodic trance song is trying to "pretend" to be goa.

Indeed everyone classifies everything diffrently. All and all they either don't know what to call it, don't know diffrent genres, or even the song just doesn't fit anywhere.
Goa is between trance and energy. Even goa-trance is not quite trance.
One, The scale. Its not the standard C,D,E,F,G,A.B,C. Thus why it sound so diffrent. B and G are more than a half step semitone down and the intervals between notes are nearly trippled. Hence why its one of the most hardest genres to produce unless you of course have a sitar :P
Goa-Trance still uses this tuneing and keeps the harsh leads. Its just a bit slowed down and more ambient. As put in another post. Chanting is frequently used and the best is when things are slowing down. Hence more common in this sub-genre.
Phy-Trance is an English form of trance so the tuneing and scaleing is the standard. It uses "Cold" Sounds rather than warm sounds to give a erry feel. Mainly like most songs with Phy in it they are down tempo with breaking frequent.
I hear you have FL-Studio. This uses greatly the standard scale for its music. Although you can if you know what you are doing, use the portamento to your avantage and slur the notes to the halfsteps needed for goa. Note to change the attack on the notes and the porta-time if you want less slured notes and more sounds inbetween. =D

I know about the scaling and such. However, from my experience, not all goa trance is in that weird scale you've mentioned, and not all of them are even in C minor. I've heard goa trance written in C Phrygian (C, Db, Eb, F, G, Ab, Bb, C) and C Phrygian Dominant (C, Db, E, F, G, Ab, Bb, C), which are essentially F minor offsetted so it begins from the 5th note. And I know that the F#/Gb is heard more prominently, giving an eerie feel to the song because most people find the tritone scary sounding. =P
If you listen very carefully, though, the bassline goes like this: C-C-C, C-C-C, C-C-C, Db-Eb-C', C-C-C, C-C-C, C-C-C, G-C'-C Note the Db.
Also, there is no chanting in my songs because I don't have the people to produce such chanting.
If you visit my SoundClick page, I even uploaded one song there called "The Deviant", with more "traditional" goa-ish kickdrum. It's up to you to decide if that song can be classified under goa trance or psytrance.
I dunno... Maybe I was actually offended by your over-accurate description. x_x When someone claims that I haven't changed the genre at all, it means that I have failed. Then again, my knowledge about these subgenres are still quite shallow. I'm far too used to anthem trance.

Ok I listened to the song Deviant. That is the closet match to goa I have heard from anyone in a long time XD. You have the fast tempo, the fast bass (with flanger added like I was pointing out) and a harder lead (though sounds a bit trianglish)... All and all its <.< the best I have heard so far..
And yes I understand the scales, they have nearly the same amount of notes as the west with the exception of more intervals between C and D and D to F. Also note that the tuning of these notes aren't esactly the same.
here is a chart of the notes from the bass note C4 to C3 (one octave) The Tone is bassed on 100ths of the frequency that the note plays at. Example is that A is 440Khz, for easier understanding lets say C is 0 being no change. The number on the left is how far the note is from the western scale in 100ths of the frequency. In parenthses is how far from bass note it is.
Western music. Indian.
C 0 (+0) C 0 (+0)
C# 0 (+90) C# 0 (+90) C≠ 22 (+112)
D 0 (+204) C♯ 92(+182)
D# 0 (+294) D 0 (+204)
E 0 (+408) D# 0 (+294)D≠ 22 (+386)
F 0 (+498) E -22(+386)E 0 (+408)
F# 0 (+588) E 112(+520)
G 0 (+702) F 0 (+498)
G# 0 (+792) F# 2 (+590)F≠ 22 (+610)
A 0 (+906) G 0 (+702)
A# 0 (+996) G# 0 (+792)G≠ 22 (+814)
B 0 (+1110) A-22 (+884)A 0 (+906)
C 0 A# 0 (+996)A≠ 22 (+1018)
B-22 (+1088)
That being said, many notes like C,D,E,F,G and A are no real change from the western music. Though B and F# are slightly lower toned than in western music. The other major diffrence is of course the intervals beween notes. There are alot more sharps and flats in Indian music than in western. :P I hope thsi didn't confuse you..
:P also its ok.. I didn't mean to offend you if I did. Music is a tough crowd indeed and I just like to help another out by giving a few tips. Your music is very professional and top notch in its composition. Even though you may not know what genre it is or if you tried for one and got another it is still a work of art.
I wouldn't know if Anthem Trance is the right term perhaps on a few songs of yours.
Anthem trance is very upbeat (happy) and not very progressive strangly enough they like to dive right in. Though Anthem is more progressive than TranceCore. There near the same and has fast beats and rythems less ambience and sometimes lots of piano rolls. Example artists are CLSM, DJ Fade, Marc Smith and Raver Rose (very few songs mainly NRG).
