This was my last drawing before I stopped and is possibly my best work, in my own humble opinion.
This was created about 8 months after I made my first smudge "The Bird" and I had no idea, not even an inkling of a clue how far I'd gone since my first crude drawings until I look back on them now, after finding them almost 2 years later.
I used NO references with this and I'm pleased with almost every aspect of it except the bottom of those damn curtains...
Other than that, I love the pose, I love the fact I was FINALLY starting to get proportions and subtle body angles about right, I love the mood and feeling I finally was getting my drawings to begin to convey and I love how I managed that ruddy chair! I cheaped out on the other hand, but tough noogies!
It still sucks compared to so, so much on FA, but this was my crowning achievement before I ended up back sliding through no practice.
Looking back at my old work, spread out over the 8-9 months I was actually drawing. I see now that I was improving, drastically, over my first attempts. I just didn't see it then because I was watching that evolution happen in front of me, one line, one pencil stroke, at a time. I was literally my own worst critic and it blinded me to my own progress.
No more. I am getting back to this point, that is my goal in the short term. Then once I do, I'm pushing past it and there is NO WAY I'm stopping again.
So to all the other utterly amazing artists that I know, and have yet to know, I'm shooting for the stars in order to stand right beside you some day. I don't want any one to wait up for me, but instead to keep pushing that platform ever higher, for I will reach it.
