I think I'm really going to enjoy this comic. A clear, honest look at what it's like to be a furry is much needed.
This is brilliant staging in how your fursona just pops up, pleased as punch to be there, and while you're still questioning the furriness, it seems to be a foregone conclusion. x3

you don't actually make it through college as a furr. ever.
You stay low and quiet and normal until someone reveals that they too, are just as weird as you are.
Then you be weird together, in a quiet, discreet, nonchalant, non revealing, sort of way.
Being a furr was easy in highschool cause no one cared and neither did I. But college...I guess it depends on where you go. >D
personally, I keep it almost entirely to myself.

No. Just because a bad name is given to the Furry fandom, does not mean you should keep a low profile. I make it no secret I am who I am. If people ask, I tell them. Most of the time they don't have to; I'll make mention of it in conversation. People need to understand that there's a difference between the fandom and the fetishes. And when you look at it, most of the fetishes associated with the furry fandom is widely adopted by other subcultures, even before furry fandom came into existence.
When I explain this to people, I take a very professional approach to it so they understand that I'm not some kind of crazy and that I'm no different from them. Heck, I don't even see myself as someone with a label because I endorse it. I've actually made more friends, (several of them even become furries) than gained enemies. Are all gay males pedophiles? Are all lesbians cold-hearted bitches? Do all black people have a criminal record? Do all poets where black and have heavy eyeliner? No, of course they don't. Then why would you say that all Furries are just people who are in to bestiality? Or that they make up characters because they can't deal with the life they have. Or that they only have a chance being in a relationship with other Furries?
People don't understand the culture because of the stereotype and it's because of the stereotype that we as Furries feel uncomfortable making mention of it to people who are not.
Ah... I could go on about this forever. This will of course all be in the comic. I'm sorry if my reply was a little overwhelming. I hope you don't take it as a retort. It was not intended. But this is something I feel strongly about. I'm not letting anyone bog me down just because a handful of jerks only believe what they found on wikipedia and took the time to persecute me before they even knew my name.

*shrugs a little*
PERSONALLY. As you said, not a retort...same here...
I think people need to stop defining themselves by what they are into.
Yes, I am a furr, and the necessity to hate any fandom is, albeit, annoying to say the least.
But it's just like music, or tv...you don't go around proudly announcing that you watch house, for example.(consequently, you wouldn't walk around with a cane like he does, either, unless attending a um...house...convention I suppose). Just like I don't wear a tail or ears or anything like that into public.
I am an advocate of furrs, but I am also an advocate of not letting your fandom/fettishes/interests become you.
Can I hear an amen?
I'll look forward to the comic, however. ;3

Oh no. I don't think people should slap others in the face with what they love or are into. That can be too much and can make you look like a douche, lol. But, for example, if you like to wear tails in public, then do it. You're not hurting anyone. And if people ask, then you shouldn't be reserved about explaining it. Heck, I've done it before and most of the time, I forget I'm even wearing one. I think it's fun, and it makes me happy.
But again, no, you should not go about polishing yourself up and standing in front of people saying, "Hey! Hey! Guess what? Guess what I am?" O_O

i think all furries had this debate
a close friends, furry too, say he prefer that people don' tshow always different, because when you show it in public place, it is agressif like publicity is agressiv.
i think that the world will become very borring if everybody burrow different inside them. we have a litle sentence to resume this debate
"i love blue"
if someone claim it in the street , he claim his joy, and i can share it with everobody who want share it. ( but don't exaust your neightbour =^_^=)
I like wear my tail in public, not to show it to people around me. the first reason it is an addiction after wear a tail everytime in a convention, i miss it. i miss to feel the tail slaps my legs when i walk.
the second reason is i'm a furry, when i eat i'm a furry, when i am sleeping, when i drink with friends, i'm a furry. i don't hide it, i don't show it pointedly. it is me.
so lot of people asking me, why i wear a tail. because i like it. some people wear a necklace , or earing, why can't i wear a tail? i don't explain what is furry, i don't say this word, sometime, i explain the interrest for anthropomophic...
scuse for my english =^_^= i'm french
and please Mavuriku, tell me that we will see the continuation soon =^_^=

As a furry currently going through college I can tell you this...its much easier just being who you are and having other furries X3 I had almost no rl furry friends until I attended college, then one by one I discovered them by looking for the usual odd furry quirks XD Some where easier then others X3 Such as a buddy of mine who I found during Halloweens because he was in ears, tail and furry sleeves/handpaws XD
So yeah, going though college as a furry really isn't to hard. My furry friend Wolfy attends here and wears his tail everyday to where ever he goes around campus and most people don't even bat an eye at it X3 So with my eared hat on I proudly walk around as a furry...and really nobody cares. But then I'm an art student...I think they expect us to be unusual or something XD

This little comic is wonderful in many ways.
For one, it embodies the kind of "Hey, this is really fun"-feeling that we get toying with the fantasy idea of anthro animals.
For two, it's humor allows us to laugh at ourselves and appreciate all the aspects of "being furry", whatever that means.
"Being furry" means something different to pretty much everyone. But there are certain things we share in common. I think this comic describes a good portion of them. Very nicely done. :)
