I created a player for the FABA's current draft!
out-of-the-boks kindly made this sketch for me. I'll share the bio I wrote for her below. It will be interesting to see where this goes as I don't know the first thing about basketball.
The FBA is the creation of
Buckhopper and is currently run by
steviemaxwell
Name: Rosanne “Rosie” Mackaness
Species: Quokka
Sex: Female
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 154lbs.
Little Rosie has always traded on cute. Being a member of one of the cutest, one of the most friendly, and absolutely THE most cheerful looking armed her with a very disarming appearance and personality. The pigtails and braids she liked to put her blond hair into if anything made her even more adorable, and that was saying something.
Appearing absolutely innocent and beyond reproach allowed her to easily get what she wanted out of people, often just by asking. Unfortunately for everyone who didn’t know her well Rosie was also a liar and thief. The third of four children, her parents had a devil of a time trying to turn her into an honest, upright individual. Between the time she learned to walk and talk and age three she had her way with her family. Candy, ice cream, her sibling’s toys, all of them eventually became her’s and she always got away with it. That was until her two older siblings mounted a crusade for justice and caught her on tape constructing a highly sophisticated jerry rigged ladder to reach the bag of Anzac’s all the way up on the top shelf in the kitchen. Plus her parents started getting suspicious after a few months of everything being “big sister Nadine’s” fault for a few months according to Rosie.
After her family learned not to trust her, she then moved on to fleecing her friends and neighbors. They were easier to manipulate and lie to than her family but they weren’t dumb either and they soon caught onto her. After a long string of neighborhood parents complained to Rosanne’s about how their children had “given” her a treasured object to keep they raided her room and found her secret stash of toys and sundries she had kept well hidden behind the clothes and boxes in her closet. Her parents weren’t having any of that and severe penalties for lying, cheating and stealing were placed upon her. Learning to be honest was hard for young Rosie. It just seemed illogical to say that stealing was wrong when it was so easy to do.
Thankfully her parents prayers were answered and she eventually got her behavior to match her adorable appearance, though it was this tendency to larceny that got Rosanne into basketball in the first place when at her tenth birthday her father brought her a basketball instead of soccer ball, joking that she’d be a lot better at that sport since she was so good at snatching things from people. Much to her father’s surprise she took took very well to dribbling her new toy around, bouncing it off the side of the house and catching it again as she had no basket to practice with. Her father was soon purchasing her one as well as driving her long distances to the one community basketball program that Perth had.
Since access to basketball was scarce in Australia Rosanne often played many other sports through elementary and middle school, moving between soccer, cricket and lacrosse as they went through their respective seasons. She took to team sports with a passion, finding in it a much more ethical use for her persuasiveness and deviousness. She found herself to be a natural motivator and an expert and faking out the opposition. But she always retained a love for basketball and played and practiced it whenever she could. It was probably a sign from above when she found out that her preparatory school had a basketball team. Now that it was readily available she focused on basketball almost exclusively save for playing a last season of women’s lacrosse and helping to take the team to a regional championship. She was a major reason her basketball team got to and won national level competitions during all her four years of high school education but considering that this was in Australia a team did not have to be all that good to beat out the limited competition.
Her team’s performance must have been good enough however, and she managed to attract the attention of recruiters from Harvaardwak University in Massachusetts. It was this fateful decision to attend business school in the states that brought her to the notice of the FBA and the possibility of entering their draft. Although she is very excited to bamboozle competing companies as an ace advertiser and sales rep sneaking around and beating opposing players is feels just as good to her. Besides, she still looks utterly adorable. She should easily get her team mates and opponents to underestimate her is so many ways.
