and its been that long since the first episode of Digimon? its so strange to think that. It was my favourite anime back then; mostly because most others shown on TV at the time were not great; Pokémon could get irritating and YuGiOh....eesh.

Yeah. It been 15 year since the first Episode release.
I do really love Digimon much. But some weak spot I don't like was Attack move always use the same scene and too long Evolution scene too.
My most favorite episode was the first one too ; ).

well the show was on a tight budget; so they had to reuse scenes like that

also reusing scenes is a staple for many TV anime (that and endless highschools)

honestly I think the tight budget helps its interesting to see how the makers deal without lots of money; Classic Doctor Who for example concentrated more on story and character rather than trying to make visuals they could never achieve (New Who has more money but is like a whiney emo compared to its older ancestor). Digimon as well had quite a lot of character development, considering its in the same genre as Pokémon. The Pokémon anime is inferior; sure it looks nicer, but it hasn't got any soul; its characters are pretty basic (though I really like Team Rocket) and its just a marketing ploy. Digimon could have just been another Pokémon, but the fact it isn't is pretty spectacular given how many other Pokémon-cash ins there were at the time.
