I hate carving foam, so I'm doing all that I can to avoid it.
I can't decide which eye I want for this head x3 they both look awesome. What do you guys think?
Should have had better lighting for the left picture :P

Both look good depending on which expression you want. Personally I like more the right one, it looks more friendly and it looks better on the front view. Also the smoothness of the head fits the right eye more. The left one looks a bit to low and to the left on the front view but maybe that is just me. I really like how smooth it looks, is it easier or harder than carving foam?
Overall width of both eyes is around the same. the right eye is stick out a bit mo around the tip because that's part was pinned down. Behind the foam, your eyes would only be around the bottom half of the right eye, everything else on top is just extra for cosmetic to make it cute.
The left eye doesn't look as good from the front because it was meant to have 3 colors, bright red, darker red and black for pupil. so all the area that was black outside where the pupil should be is suppose to be dark red. Another one for the left eye color scheme was just plain red with dark red to indicate pupil etc. but it just wasn't really possible with just permanent marker I had on hand. For my own character I'll most likely go with the left, but for this one it will be the right. Flow talked me into making this like a suppose sibling of my character x3 not written in stone yet.
As for is it easier or harder than carving foam, to me this is a million times easier just because I crunch the pattern in my head with numbers, and I done so quite a few costume in this format, turning 2d into 3d. If you were to tell someone that have only done carving, they will most likely be like why. Carving to have it's perks, just not my specialty and feel much more time consuming and messy to me.

Interesting, thatsa pretty nice way to do it.
I see. Hmm for the sibling thing I dont know why but I got the idea of him having an opposite main color so instead of yellow have something like dark blue and white. It would be nice seeing both suits in action at the same time (maybe some dance routine for a fursuit dance competition).
I tried carving foam a while ago and its indeed messy and pretty time consuming. I guess with carving you could have sharper features and some more detail but this method looks cleaner and the foam itself helps with rounding the features.
