I know I know, it's a bit early, but hey, I was having fun tonight as the snow fluttered down outside my window. I dusted off the ol' uke, and dragged along my brand new Garrison G50 acoustic (drool) to imitate some lap steel. I know I'm flat, but hey I'm no Bing Crosby. Hoppy Holidays!

Hahaha. I highly suggest picking up a nice uke for yourself. I bought one to help me think more about theory than just playing chord shapes, it's good for the brain. Also the slide was purely accidental. I started out just fingerpicking but tried slide for fun. Even the reverb was a last minute happy accident.
Also, there's only 35 days until christmas so you'd better start thinkin'!

Any respectable music store will have at least a cheap ukulele, and really, there's not much difference between the cheap ones and the expensive ones anyhow.
Don't let money troubles dampen your spirits! One year for christmas I recorded songs/drew pictures for most of my friends and relatives for christmas because I was very down and out, and I think they went off great.

This song has been ingrained in my mind since I was very little, it's probably my second or third favorite christmas song ever. The other ones will be up within a week. Thanks for the very nice compliments, they're all the better when they come from people I admire like you and maxgoof.
Garrisons are interesting guitars. I got to see the guts that were taken out of one a few years ago and that whole design scheme is mind boggling. It definitely gives them a unique sound and I happen to think that instruments with a unique sound tend to help lend to an artists sound eventually. What kind of saddle do they put in those stock?
Now that i have had a chance to let the song load it sounds great :) Out of curiosity were you using a different mic for the guitar? It seems to have a different sound quality from the uke and vocals.

I love Garrison and I will miss them dearly as they fell victim to that ruthless tyrant, Gibson.
I used the exact same mic on everything on this track, I can't recall if it was my SM58 or my large diaphragm condenser. I did however record the slide parts drastically differently than you normally do, I recorded it from across the room to get rid of the immediacy of the attack of my fingers and the slide bar hitting the neck, to give it a more wet, rounded, and more lap steel sound. I also drenched it in digital room reverb VSTs and a limiter I think.
