"Going Concerns" is a novella that first appeared in Five Fortunes, an anthology of novellas published by FurPlanet in January 2014. (Buy it in print from FurPlanet or ebook from Bad Dog.) It's a comic suspense story set in Ranea, a "low fantasy" Victorian era world that mixes humans and several animal-people races, including the L'rovri and Melifen--wolves and felines--that Annie and Gibson, the story's main characters, belong to. Annie, an accountant who lost her job when she tried to blow the whistle on illegal activities at her former employer, wants nothing more than a quiet life free of the "big bad wolf" stereotype L'rovri face. Gibson, an eccentric detective with the Ranean Guard, wants Annie to stop being an accountant and start being the sleuth he needs to crack his biggest case: the operation her former company's trying to cover up. The story was nominated for a 2014 Cóyotl Award.
