Here's alittle picture I just got finish with a couple of minutes ago. This is a little "take that!" picture on the always loud, whining, unpleasable, ungrateful. nostalgia blinded, and annoying part of the Sonic fan base.

You talking about the one that came out for 360 and PS3 last year? I never hated a game more in my life. not becuase it was a bad game. it might have been a good game. but 2 things prevented me from playing it for more then 20 minutes. the fact that it would take 5 minutes to load a conversation with someone that was maybe 2 or 3 lines of text. then take another 5 minutes to load the level wich was buggy as hell. I wonder if they even bother play testing it. I kept falling through floors. flying off of loops, and running sideways on a wall just to stop for no reason and fall off a cliff.
Yeah I believe it was just self-titled Sonic the Hedgehog on the 360 and PS3. I thought the idea was abit interesting, having the free roaming main area and then go to the zones for the Sonic action, but it was just badly developed, it wasn't even enjoyable. The graphics were subpar too as far as a 360 game goes, let alone one that came out what? Two years after the release? It's just sloppy, especially on such a big name type of game. Graphics aren't everything, but if your gonna do it for a next gen system, make sure the graphics are at least last gen good lol
If you aren't happy with something, you can't enjoy it. Enjoyment must include being happy with something. Otherwise a specific part of it.
As for the other games, you didn't say whether or not you could deal with the bugs; you just repeated yourself. Regardless, you don't enjoy something if you can't get into it. Why? If you don't get into it, you don't know what it's about. If you don't know what it's about, it doesn't exist to you - out of sight, out of mind.
However, if you don't like the bugs and they disrupt the story too much for you, you instead enjoy the Sonic Series as a whole - a general statement that can vary between games.

The sad part about this pic... that's just about 'Any' fan base for 'Anything'... Which blows... you got maybe from 10% - 49% that ACTUALLY are fans then the rest are followers that haggle at anything that doesn't match to the Recent but refers to something Either off the wall as wft/Awsome or Something refering to the Old as 'Never happened'... x_X... Though I love the look of this doodle too. ^_^
Not blindly. There are alot of recent Sonic games they screwed up. But however, not every recent Sonic games wasn't bad as these group of fans say it is. For example, Heros seems to get a lot of flak from these guy. The game it self wasn't bad as they say it is. To me, it's one of the few 3d sonic games that manage to have that old genesis feel to it. These fans always complain about the recent Sonic games not being like the old one. These guys seem to want the new Sonic games be like the old ones so badly. They'll put to much expectation on any new Sonic that's about to come out. When it finally release, they'll become very disappoint about the game cause it didn't leave up to their expectation and go on complaining about it. Some of these joker would say it would be their last Sonic game they'll ever get. But when another game Sonic has been announce, guest what?.... They'll put their expectation that game. These group of fans seems to follow a pattern, hype game, game realease, complain about the game, Repet. I bet these guys would still complain if Sega manage to make a good 3d Sonic game that manage to get eveything right. These guys also reminds me of "Geewuners" of the transformers fandom who would complain about anything that's not G1 transformers.
There are a lot of them that are unreasonably clingy to the 2-D era of Sonic, yeah. Every fandom has those.
But I expect nothing. Hell, I enjoyed Shadow the Hedgehog despite its story being utter incomprehensible crap. I have really low expectations and yet Sega has- with the exception of the Rush games- just utterly failed to solve the problems with 3-D Sonic that have plagued it forever, and utterly disappointed even the most casual of gamer. It's not hard to see why those of us who love the blue needleball have been pessimistic.
But if they actually have addressed the 3-D problems inherent in Sonic in this new one, then I'll cheer alongside everyone else. It doesn't take much to impress me.

The truth is, these fans will never be satisfied. they dont want what's good for the fans, they want what's good for THEM.
The DS rush games were great. Even if they were still 2D (not that there's anything wrong with that) and heroes was awsome, they just wont be satisfied. They'll always find little faults. I've had to defend the sonic fanbase purely because the recant games have been terrible.
And with that, I fav this for it's epic win.

Ehh, I didn't really like heros because of the bugs, but I do agree that there always seems to be a lot more flak then necessary. I really like the concept of Sonic and the Secret Rings, though it too seemed to have some unpolished sections and some boring enemies. If the Sonic team decided to make a second game styled like the Secrets Rings, I'd definately go out to rent it, and buy if they fixed some of the controll quirks.
My favorite game by far is the First and Second Sonic Adventure. Both of them had good controls, the levels were well made and the scripting was spot on (Random "ZOMG I AM FALLING" moments were nearly non-existant.)
And Sonic Unleashed is fairly good in my opinion. The only real qualms I have about it is some of the level design is a bit meh, but thats only a small complaint. It far better than Shadow the Hedgehog game.

Heh heh. You can take those group of people and replace them with any group of diehard game franchise fanboys (Like Mario, Resident Evil, or SNK ones in particular).
And it seems that you've offended quite a few of said fanboys on here too. So good work on a job well done!! =D

You want the real reason why Sonic Team puts out stuff like Sonic Unleashed where only 1/3rd of the game is true sonic fast paced gameplay?
Because its easier to design a level thats only 2 million polygons in size and takes 15 minutes to explore, compared to a level thats 50 million polygons in size and can be explored in 5 minutes or less.
I rented Sonic Unleashed, I tried to like the werewolf levels, and wow, they just are not any good. Not to mention the deplorable amount of cut scenes which bring the games pacing down to almost a grinding halt (4chan joke right now is calling it Metal Gear Sonic because there is so many).
That and they keep making Sonic more and more emo, with characters that are more and more emo with generic rage. Remember the genesis/sonic adventure days where Sonic was a fun loving hedgehog where his goal was to stop eggman while having as much fun as possible? Yeah, now thats been changed to him growling out lines in both Sonic AND werehog form. Remember how bad the acting was in the 2nd and 3rd Prince of Persia games when they made the prince smolder with generic rage? Yes, the story is that bad.
We are never, ever going to see another Sonic game where it will be just pure speed sonic, just because in my view its far harder to design a massive sprawling level that takes minutes to clear, and shortens the length of the game down to nothing, when its easier to slow the game down and MAKE the player spend 15-20 minutes exploring the much smaller levels, because its easier to pad game time that way because a TRUE gamer gripe these days is "DURRR I BEAT DA GAME IN THREE HOURS! ITS NOT WORTH IT DURR!" when I can complete Sonic 1-3 in less then a hour each.
Fans will never be happy, but thats not to say that fans are never wrong either. People that enjoy the slow werehog levels in a -SONIC- game is the same people that enjoy Big the Cat levels in Sonic Adventure.
"Froggy?"

Damn, sounds just like the same people who think Bethseda couldn't make a "true" Fallout game because they brought the tech up to the 21st century or the fan who think that EA ruined the Red Alert series by going from B-grade cheese to flatout silly. I can only testify that the first one is false but... yeah.
