Too bad that when you read into the context of when and why this movie was produced it turns out to be more or less a moral whip for the rebelious teens of that decade. "See this shit? This is what you grandparents had to go through, you ungrateful little pricks, now shut up and behave". It does rip a good chunk of feelings one can have towards this movie. Still I do agree that when I saw it for the first time without browsing the internet looking for facts about it, it was really heartbreaking~
