I can imagine this playing out as a full on world, with a SET of levels revolving around the Yoshi - perhaps he's willing to help you do as you need to with him, but he needs you to get him stuff so he'll be big enough for it to be safe to attempt first and the castle's ready for entry, and clearing the castle level causes him to surge FASTER in growth and become a planet all his own.
Or perhaps, a reversal of the Yoshi's Island plot where Yoshi becomes huge and you have to beat him as baby Bowser instead.
Or perhaps, Yoshi could be a recurring boss throughout the game, and Kamek has him grow even bigger each time you battle him, his size increasing in each world.
