Lemme fuckin tell ya.

I drew a dumb little doodle on my hand last night, and redrew it again on a sticky note... Then again in Sai. And here we are. I'm kinda thinking I wanna make these a new species... They're based off of squids, octopuses, and Pokemon. I think I'm going to make them ethereal space squids from a far away planet or something. A space species of cephalopod... Named Skwuds. I've been thinking a lot about their 'lore' or whatever, so here's what I've got so far:

Species: Skwud
Plural: Skwuds or Skwud
Groups of Skwud are called Squads or pods~

Appearance: Like weird little flesh clouds floating about. Males have little celestial tentacles, females have otherworldly spindles, and those without a gender (or a different gender of your choosing) have neither. Skwuds look squishy because they are. They're not slimy, though! Or wet or other weird stuff like that. Just nice and smooth and plush. They haven't got any bones, after all, since most they do is float around in space. Thanks to this, many different designs and color variations have come about in the species.

Life (birth, life cycle and expectancy): Birth takes part on their home planet; a dark colored planet with pastel waters. Most, if not all Skwuds are 'born' there. Plenty of Skwuds used to stay there their whole lives, but eventually wanderlust became a thing among the species, and eventually, the young (and the curious aged) parted from their peaceful home planet and began to explore the cosmos. Many Skwuds spend their whole lives 'swimming' through space, eventually bumping into planets and visiting for a while to see how they like it. It's the ineffective way of finding a new home. Though since they /do/ live a very, /very/ long time, they can visit quite a few places if they like. So, these days, very few Skwuds actually stay on their home planet. Most leave the nest and explore the endless abyss that is the universe, until they find a place they like. Of course, to be able to do this, they have to live for a long period of time. It is unknown how old the oldest Skwud was, but it is fairly common knowledge that these guys can for as long as the cosmos allows them. It is rare for them to die of 'natural causes'. When they do die, they disintegrate into space stuff and help create new stars.

Habitat and Diet: Though their home planet has very little in the way of 'habitat', they can survive almost anywhere.. But every Skwud is different, and they all have different opinions on where the ideal home would be. Diet for the Skwuds doesn't generally correlate with where they live, as they feed off of the atmosphere around them.

Other info that doesn't have a place yet:
~ They communicate via telepathy, and do so with other species as well
~ They float. They don't walk. Think of LSP.
~ They do squirt ink as a type of defense mechanism. Ink can be any color.
