No, most of the background is procedurally generated using particle systems and blenders tree generator plugin.
I only set up the parameters for that (shape and size of trees) and placed them.
I wouldn't normally do this, but since I needed a lot of filler material that was mostly going to be out of focus that's the route I chose.
