Chapter 29
“What did you guys think of that?” asked David while his Pokémon were crammed into the small yellow elevator with him.
“Well,” muttered Casper from his continued perch on top of the boy’s head. “At least he’s respecting your wishes not to tell anyone else that you can understand us.”
“Yeah,” breathed David softly.
Ian made another twirl in the air and paused in front of the boy’s nose upside down. “I think evolving through trust would be amazing! Giordan? What if he found a stone which allowed your kind of Pokémon to evolve again? That would be so amazing!”
“I think I’m fine being a Gourgeist at the moment,” commented the gourd as he floated next to the squid. “Evolving wasn’t a particularly pleasant experience for me like it was for Casper. It was abrupt and painful. In that moment of coming out of the suspension we go into when being traded, I was consumed by loss. While wracked with the pain of losing our trainer for good, I felt a greater need to become stronger so I could defend myself. When it turned out that my new trainer was David, and how much he cared for me, even when we first met, I wanted to go back to being a Pumpkaboo. I was forced to grow up too soon for me to enjoy being my pre-evolution.”
“Wow,” muttered David. “If I could have stopped your evolution when I got you, I would have. I don’t think forcing evolution onto a Pokémon is the right thing to do. I know some Pokémon, like Panos, evolve when they come into contact with certain elemental stones, but I think that thing should be their choice, not their trainers.”
The Gourgeist managed a small smile as the door to the yellow elevator opened. David and his Pokémon were able to pile out into the lobby of Professor Sycamore’s lab.
“So,” said David with a glance down at Scottie as the Scraggy kept up with him. “Where should we go no-ooff!”
“Watch where you’re going!” barked a loud male voice as David ran headlong into a tall man with vibrant red hair styled very much like the mane one would expect on a lion. His black suit with orange-red lining made him look all the more intimidating.
“I’m sorry,” muttered the boy. “I didn’t mean to run into you.”
The man straightened his suit and his angry sneer morphed into a curious smile.
“You must be the important trainer Professor Sycamore agreed to see,” started the man as he stretched out his hand towards the boy. “How wonderful! That is a wonderful thing, indeed. I am Lysandre.”
“Um, hi,” said David while shaking the extended hand.
“Quite the inspiration, isn’t he?” asked the man while stroking his beard in an absent gesture. He didn’t wait for David to answer the question. “Professor Sycamore has been quite the teacher and I intend to put everything I’ve been taught into building a brighter future! It is vital that this world become a better place.”
“Oh, do you know that your Pokédex has a function called a Holo Caster? One of the products from my own labs, of which I am quite proud of. You can use it to keep in contact with Professor Sycamore and any of your friends. Really a useful feature and one I am happy to be able to provide for all the promising trainers traveling this region.”
“Really?” asked David with intrigue. “I’ll have to check it out.”
“If it even still works with the number of times he drops the device,” murmured Casper.
“Put it to good use,” said Lysandre. “Perhaps it can help with my desire for a more beautiful world. Well, I’ll be off. I wish you luck on your journey, young trainer.”
David was left staring after him as the man was gone with a sweep of his long orange hair.
“I don’t really like him,” muttered Panos so softly that the boy almost missed the Pansage’s remark. “Too pushy.”
“That was,” started David. “I don’t even know what to make of him.”
“You know what Brylie would tell you to do?” asked Casper.
“I can hazard a guess,” answered the boy.
“She would say we need to put something slimy and smelly in that expensive suit of his,” replied the butterfly. “Hey, I’d be a really good consulting partner if she’d only ask. I can come up with the plans and she can execute them.”
David shuttered. “Please don’t. I rather like this world we live in thank you very much.”
“Pfft,” snorted the Butterfree. “Where’s the fun in destroying the world? We need the world still alive so we can toy with it properly.”
“Good to note,” muttered Giordan darkly.
“Hey!” exclaimed Casper. “You know as well as David does that his Pokédex says I’m mischievous as well as being Modest in nature.”
“Well then,” said David quickly changing the subject. “Scottie? What do you think we should do now?”
“What is the next badge we are getting?” asked the Scraggy.
David took a step towards the door and paused. “Alexa took me to meet Clemont, but he’s busy right now, so he told me to head down Versant Road towards Camphrier Town. He said it would be on the way to a gym I could face.”
“Ooo,” chimed the Dark-Fighting Pokémon. “That’s my home route! We should definitely head there! I can show you some of the places I hid some items I found around there. That’s assuming no other trainer has stumbled upon them.”
“Great,” agreed David while stepping out onto the Lumiose City street. “We’ll head to Versant Road then.”

Talon's Rules
1. All Pokemon (with maybe the exception of your starter if you so wish) must have been obtained within a Wonder Trade upon starting the game.
2. You have six slots in your party. You must have three pokemon you can interchange per slot. Pokemon from the same group slot can never be in your party at the same time. Only one per group slot at a time. You will have a grand total of eighteen pokemon as part of your team.
3. If a Pokemon should faint, it is considered "DEAD" and must be either released or placed in the PC. Once all three pokemon from a group slot have fainted, you can only use five pokemon at a time.
4. No buying items (with the exception of the Poke Balls used to aid you in your Wonder Trade). All items are found in the region (or if you are super lucky, you may be able to rely on a pokemon whose ability is Pick Up as I have). Buying TMs in the Shop is the exception.
I do not own any characters that may coincide with characters from the games.

Personal Notes
Meet Tall, Ginger and Brooding. For Lysandre's introduction, I may have stuck to his in-game introduction, but as the story progresses, I believe I'll work on developing him more as a character. He has some intriguing possibilities.
