Whee, my first finished attempt at acrylic painting in a really long time! :D Took me around 3 hours, and I'm actually proud of it. Paint isn't my usual medium, nor is it my best, though I do enjoy using them.
Seriously, though, the scan destroyed this. D: The colours have been messed with, you can see the freakin' canvas, and it doesn't look as rich. Also, it's a lot easier to see the places I screwed up; namely the arms, and his tail. I really think it looks out of place.
About the character, this is Toby, he's a clownfish-merman, if you couldn't tell, and he's actually very shy, apparently, hence the reason he wouldn't let me paint all of him, and wound up hiding behind a rock. Personally, I would have rather had more of him in the picture, since I really suck at painting rocks, but enh. I suppose he'll change his mind eventually. But at least now, I have another breed of mermale to associate with the Payid in my head. Not sure if this one will end up in Kir, but we'll see. ^_^
If offering criticism, I would appreciate some on how to better blend colours, at least for his skin. It isn't as smooth as it should be, I know. Sketchy in parts, and I don't highlight well when not working with pencils. I need to work on this.
Oh, and someone remind me to NEVER prime a canvas with such a dark colour ever again. *smacks self for using dark blue*
