Just fixed this up a little to have something to post while I diddle with some other projects this weekend.
This was originally a splash page for a comic project I started in the 1990s and subsequently shelved after getting into a rut. Starting out as a day hike involving my characters (except Nei'chelle who hadn't been created yet), they get sucked into an alternate reality that operated mostly like a JRPG.
Being that this was an almost ten-year-old pic, I had to make some fixes. Most of them involved re-shaping Tatiana and Roland's faces so they appeared to have actual cheekbones, widening the spacing between their eyes,, and making the pupils less dilated-looking (all common deficiencies in my art at the time). I then went over the pencils to make the scan come out better, since only the characters' silhouette was done with a distinctive weight.
This page was originally done on 14"x17" bristol, making it necessary to do two scans and splice them together. The page size also made it possible to do additional details at the time like the buttons, backpack hardware (one zipper actually had a readable YKK logo) and the laces on their Italian-style hiking boots (popular in my area around the time).
