The shikai form was a book containing all of the character's knowledge and has many kidou and non-kidou spells within its pages for instant release. This form is the book's pages released and swirl about him and its binding turned in to a bladed fountain pen and shield. Many of the pages within the book are blank, so the pen can be used to write quick symbols like the ones whown for swift and powerful kidou or non-kidou based attacks.
