Saturday was an absolutely beautiful day, and one of the rare opportunities I had, and am likely to have, over my 11 week hiatus from university to get some cycling done. While I was not confident about cycling to Cardiff (not because of the distance, but because of my unfamiliarity with the route), I was happy to cycle down to Port Talbot, and catch the train from there.
Having overlooked the fact that not only would Cardiff City be playing football on the opening day of the season, but that the Welsh rugby team would also be playing the Irish in a friendly before the Rugby Union World Cup, I did find it rather crowded on the train, and rather deserted in the centre of Cardiff. All the better for me, the photographer, as it meant that I had time to take a half-decent picture, like this one of Cardiff Castle. I must confess that I do not know much about the history of the castle, but it is a charming aspect of an otherwise bustling city.
Hope you enjoy!
