I'm long overdue posting something, and i figured if I post some scraps stuff I wont feel like i have to live up to the meerkat tf. =OP
On the subject of the meerkat, here's an experiment I did with showing it from the guys perspective. I can tell you that if your ever turned into a meerkat, you won't be able to see much at all I had to cheat even to get these two shots to show anything...

I understand. Just a suggestion.
Also, I noticed film grain. Eyes don't have film grain!
But I suppose one could imagine that this is a scene from a horror film and as such it was merely filmed to appear as a first person perspective shot, in which case you didn't cheat at all with your camera movements.

Funnily enough theres no film post effects, even though it looks like it. The grain and glitches come from the low photon sampling.
The view cheats because the camera Isn't exactly where his eyes would be, it stretches out a little more. His whole body would have to twist for him to look back at his tail.

Photon sampling? You mean this is done with radiosity? I guess now that you mention it I can see some triangles in the "grain", which would be the polygons.
And I know what ya meant by cheats, but I'm tellin ya, I can twist my neck around and look at my ass without twisting my whole body.
It's not COMFORTABLE, but it can be done... I think having a wide field of view helps though. Your camera here doesn't have nearly the almost 180 degree FOV which people have. That is not a criticism though, just an observation. Doing first person views with cameras is tough, that's why a lot of games don't model the character's body at all.
But anyway, cheat or no cheats, it's a great animation. I always like your stuff. And I actually like the "film grain" effect, even if it is an artifact. It goes well with the sepia tone.

This may tread a little far into "Too much work to go back NOW and do after the point..."
But.
How about mirroring the whole-body transformation ('mirror'), as a instance, then applying opacity, or even just deleting the relevant bits of the 'real' m'kat and re-arranging them as nessecary.
'mirror' would have the original animation intact, whilst 'real' would perform the exact same animations, just with your FP FOV tweaks. Though I suppose that kinda rides on whether you used Biped or Bone IK/FK.
Then you just put 'mirror' standing just behind a fake frame (with no actual mirror, or perhaps a thin 'glass' sheet for sake of refraction).
Potentially what might even be easier would be to render front-on (or relevant positioning), then place that rendering 'as' the mirror, just stuck on a plane.
Then you can stick your FOV tweaked copy in place infront of the mirror; long as you line the animation up with the mirror texture playback, the texture/faked reflection would morph alongside the FOV.
If you really wanted to go overboard you could also do the initial mirror render with a second copy for sake of radiosity (when 'real' is standing infront of the mirror)
Or perhaps I'm thinking too far into it :S

This is the exact reason I keep a mirror next to my computer. If I start spontaniously transforming into an animal, I would want to be able to see it fully. I can't look at my own face without a mirror.
Now I know what you are thinking! But I keep a stack of books in a staircase like fashion so that I would be able to climb up to my computer should I shrink to small to use it. Last thing I would want is to get transformed and then not be able to brag about it... ... that and I would need to contact someone to come over and let me out of my room, as it might be hard to reach the doorknob.
Overall excellent peice, but I can see why you put it in scraps. Just keep at it. We need fresh ideas like this.
And on the note of "needs a mirror at the end" couldn't you just render and exact copy of that model and flip it horizonitally then put a glass barrier between the two to create the illustion of a mirror?
Model 1 (glass) Model 2

But then again, I don't really know 3D stuido.
