I heard somewhere that Slendy releases some chemical that keeps people from noticing him, and can only be seen by those he is actively hunting. And once you can see him, you're marked, and he can wander after you to the ends of the earth... or something like that.
Tho, personally I think what makes Slenderman scary is how 'little' is explained about him. -I'm still confused why they say he eats people... i mean... no mouth. derp?
