When a hero is cursed into such a cute and adorable form, expect his chances of turning back into a human to be... pretty low. Because nobody wants to see him get out of that cute form which everyone -- the fans, in particular -- adores.
Somewhat inspired from those games and anime series where such formerly-human characters are trapped in such a cute body, and it'll be a shame to see them changed back into humans. XD

He was probably talking about Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. At one point, Link is turned into a rabbit when he visited the Dark World for the first time. The only way to stay in his Hylian form while in the Dark World is if he has in his possession the Moon Pearl, which also allows him to retain his fighting abilities lost when he's transformed into a rabbit.
Also, this comic is actually more inspired by Cornelius from the game Odin Sphere. The Pookas, those rabbitlike races in Odin Sphere, were actually humans who got cursed into the Pooka form they are now.
