As the lead for Coping with Disabilities: Being 120% Cooler, I made an effort to reach out to as many people in and around the fandom that I could. In doing so, I learned of a few individuals who were going through some rough times who wished they could attend an event like BronyCon, but life kept it from being possible.
Knowing how promotional cards can go for $30 to $200 on eBay, I worked with my team to see who'd be willing to give up their promotional card to me so that I could create care packages to people who really would love to have them. So I'm now in the process of getting these special cards, along with Programs and Maps from the convention, to those I know will benefit from feeling like they were truly a part of BronyCon.
Starlight Glimmer may not have the right idea on equality, but we at Coping with Disabilities are trying to level the playing field where and however we can through our open sharing of information along with donations to those we know will most appreciate having the convention experience brought to them.
