I actually got to see swarms (flocks?) of fox bats leaving the nesting grounds of the Royal Botanical Gardens (in Sydney, Australia) to hunt at dusk. Its a popular pastime to watch them over a pint at the end of the day from the City's many rooftop pubs.
The size of these animals has to be seen to be appreciated. Some of them are the size of winged house cats!
