yeah a lot of it has to do with the way they handled the screen. The Surface's glass is super clear and everything appears crisp and vibrant. While the matte film on the Companion tends to scatter both the light from the screen and from its surroundings. The color depth is much more similar in person.
-If you want compatibility will all programs out of the box, as well as being hooked up to a separate PC, or on its own, the CC2 is fantastic.
-If you want better battery life and portability, the SP3 is the best choice.
However, the SP4 should launch sometime in October, and run on the more efficient 6th-Gen intel Skylake processors. (and presumably DDR4 memory)
